Action plan introduced to accelerate the progress of PM Gati Shakti plan


New Delhi, Jan. 24 (IANS) An action plan has been introduced to accelerate the PM Gati (NS:) The progress of the Shakti schedule in Tuesday’s Group of Infrastructure Committee meeting to address existing inter-ministerial issues related to the implementation of various infrastructure projects.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari chaired the 10th meeting of the committee.

Officials said several issues had been put on the agenda for deliberation to speed up the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects. These include issues related to pending forest and environmental permits, facilitating work permits and ensuring land allocation or transfer and release of funds.

Discussions were also held on policy issues related to environment/forest/nature management, railways and energy, among others. The environmental evacuation and land policy of the Railways and the Ministry and the drawing up of comprehensive guidelines for environmental and forestry were also discussed in detail.

The concerned officials were instructed to expedite the process of approval and implementation of the above matters. The ministries/departments involved agreed to investigate and resolve various issues raised in order to accelerate infrastructure projects.

Union Minister for Trade and Industry Piyush Goyal, Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Environment, Forestry and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, General VK Singh (Retd), Minister of State for Power Krishan Pal Gurjar, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik and Minister of State for Defense and Tourism Ajay Bhatt attended the meeting.

Senior officials from relevant ministries, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and state representatives attended the meeting.
