Ceramics and glassware exports hit a “record” of $3.5 billion in 2021-2022, the Commerce Department said on Sunday.
It said exports rose due to the increase in shipments of ceramic tiles and sanitary products.
India is the second largest tile manufacturer in the world. The main export items under glassware include glass packaging items, porcelain sanitary ware, glass mirror, tinted non-wired glass, glass bead and glass wool.
India exports to more than 125 countries and top destinations include Saudi Arabia, the United States, Mexico, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Oman, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Poland.
“Over the years, the industry has been modernized through new innovations and product profile, quality and design to emerge as a world-class modern industry ready to face global competition,” it said.
