“Don’t worry, we’re…”: Russia on British fighters trapped in Ukraine

Russia-Ukraine War: The Russian invasion of Ukraine has entered Day 57.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that British fighters captured in Ukraine were being fed, watered and given necessary assistance.

“Don’t worry, the Russian side takes care of them. They are fed, watered and given the necessary help. Just like other foreigners who have surrendered or have been detained,” said Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Two British fighters captured by Russian forces in Ukraine appeared on Russian state television on Monday, asking to be exchanged for a Ukrainian ally of President Vladimir Putin, who is being held by Ukrainian authorities. It was unclear how freely the two men – Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin – could talk.
