First grain ship from Ukraine reaches Turkish coast – Times of India

ISTANBUL: The first official shipment of Ukrainian grain since the Russian invasion reached Turkish territorial waters on Tuesday at the entrance of the Bosphorus Straitaccording to an AFP team on site.
Under the flag of Sierra Leone Razoni will be inspected near Istanbul on Wednesday by a team made up of Russian and Ukrainian officials before the 26,000-ton shipment of corn is delivered to Lebanon’s Tripoli.
“The inspection of the ship by the joint inspection team will start (Wednesday) morning,” the Turkish defense ministry said.
The delivery, which departed from Odessa’s Black Sea port on Monday, is the first under a UN-backed deal negotiated last month with Turkey’s help.
But Western-backed leaders in Kiev accuse Russia of stealing Ukrainian grain in areas seized by Kremlin troops since their invasion in February and then shipped abroad.
