Emmanuel Macron, who had just been re-elected as president of France, said on Monday that he knew the name of the country’s next prime minister, succeeding Jean Castex.

“(…) Of course I won’t tell you here or now,” he told journalists who asked about his next future prime minister during a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In a country where presidents are rarely re-elected, Macron won 58.5% of the vote in the second round against far-right Marine Le Pen, despite strong opposition to his pro-corporate policies and a proposal to raise the retirement age.
