frederiksen: PM Modi meets Danish counterpart Frederiksen in her 18th century mansion – Times of India

COPENHAGEN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen on Tuesday at her quaint 18th-century Marienborg official residence, which sits on a hilltop and is surrounded by meadows, forests and lakes. “Marienborg provided the perfect setting for productive discussions with Prime Minister Frederiksen. We discussed extensively how to improve relations between India and Denmark,” Modi said on Twitter.
Frederiksen and Modi took a walk across the meadows around the 18th-century mansion overlooking Lake Bagsvaerd.
Marienborg has been the official residence of the Prime Ministers of Denmark since 1962.
In Marienborg, Frederiksen gave a tour of her official residence to Modi, who saw a Pattachitra painting of Odisha depicting ‘Ram Durbar’, which he had given as a gift when she visited India last year.
Earlier, Frederiksen received Modi at the airport here where members of the Indian diaspora had appeared in traditional dress to welcome the Prime Minister.
The Danish Prime Minister was also present when Modi interacted with the Indian community here.
“I have to say that you really know how to welcome a politician. Please teach the Danish people how to do it,” Frederiksen said to a round of applause from the Indian community.
She also introduced Modi as her boyfriend when she invited him to address the gathering.
