Constantine, the former and last king of Greece, will be buried privately on Monday at Tatoi, about 29 kilometers (18 miles) north of Athens, next to his parents and where his ancestors are buried, the government announced on Wednesday.
Constantine died late Tuesday in a hospital at the age of 82. The Greek monarchy was finally abolished in a referendum in December 1974, and Constantine spent decades in exile before resettling in his homeland in his final years.
His body will be laid out in a chapel next to the metropolitan cathedral on Monday morning from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m.
About 200 people were invited to the funeral service and about 60 will attend the funeral in Tatoi. All will attend a memorial dinner later Monday at a hotel in central Athens.
Crews have been busy clearing debris from the cemetery and paving the way to the graves with gravel.
