An attacker stabbed a priest and a nun on Sunday at Saint-Pierre-d’Arene church in the southern French city of Nice, Mayor Christian Estrosi said.
The suspect was quickly arrested by the police. Estrosi said the victims were being treated for their injuries.
The mayor added that the suspect was a French citizen, born in Frejus, a town near Nice, who suffered from a mental illness.
The attack took place on presidential election day and a week after Catholics celebrated Easter.
