More than 500kg of cocaine was discovered in a shipment of coffee beans at a Nespresso factory in Friborg, Switzerland, local police said on Thursday.
A group of workers at the factory, located in the city of Romont, discovered on Monday the white powder packed in bags of coffee beans delivered fresh from Brazil. Nearly two dozen customs officials were called in to local authorities to analyze the find, which is reported to be 80% clean and has a street value of more than $50 million (CHF 50 million).
Police claim the drug did not come into contact with the actual coffee, insisting the unusual charge “isolated† The investigation is still ongoing.
