India recorded an eight-wicket victory over fierce rivals Pakistan in their Commonwealth Games cricket match.

Opener Smriti Mandhana hit 63 of 42 balls while India chased Pakistan’s total of 99 with 38 balls left.

Pakistan, which was no match for India’s bowling attack, were sacked with the last ball of their innings, which had been reduced to 18 overs due to rain in Edgbaston.

Indian spinner Sneh Rana played the lead, taking 2-15 in the match in Group A.

With Sunday’s win, India returned from a loss in Pool A in the opening against Australia.

They can reach the semi-finals with a win over Barbados on Wednesday in their last group stage match.

World champions Australia became the first side to reach the semi-finals with a nine-wicket win over the Caribbean side.

After throwing out Barbados for 64, where Hayley Matthews was the lone batter to reach double digits, the favorites needed only 49 balls to reach their goal.

Captain Meg Lanning hit an unbeaten 36, aided by 23 from Alyssa Healy, as Beth Mooney’s wicket was the only one to fall.
