Japan takes a historic victory in their opening match of the 2022 World Cup, beating 2014 winner Germany.
Takuma Asano scored a winner in the 83rd minute as Japan stunned four-time world champions Germany 2-1 in their opening match of the 2022 World Cup.
Germany led at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday through Ilkay Gündogan’s penalty kick in the 33rd minute.
However, Japan hit back in quick succession, first through Ritsu Doan’s equalizer and then Asano’s late goal, to seal a historic win.
