Mudslide rages over Colombian school, kills 3 children


BOGOTA, Colombia – A mudslide hit a rural primary school in the mountains south of Medellin on Thursday, killing three young children after heavy rains swept northern and western Colombia, authorities said.

Officials in the province of Antioquia said about 20 children were taking a break in the La Lejia school cafeteria when the slide struck. Most of them escaped unharmed, but three under the age of six died and two youths who had to be dug out of the building were hospitalized.
