No plan to choose next army chief: Imran Khan – Times of India

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan said he had no intention of choosing the next army chief of his choice because “appointments for merit destroyed institutions,” media reported.
At an event here on Wednesday, the deposed Prime Minister reiterated that the Minister of PML-N Khurram Dastgir Khan had “confessed” that the then-opposition parties had attacked him for planning to Lt. to appoint Gen Faiz Hameed as the new army chief to reportedly carry out his agenda to rule the country without interference for the next 15 years, Dawn News reports.
However, the PTI chairman claimed he had no such plans because he believed in meritocracy.
Khan also claimed that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif “tried to pick his favorites for such prestigious positions because he had to protect his ill-gotten wealth and looted money”.
Talking about his US-backed regime change conspiracy theory, the former prime minister claimed that: Washington did not want to improve any country, but only wanted to protect its interests, Dawn News reported.
“Providing military bases to the US was not in Pakistan’s interest, so he flatly refused. I’m not anti-America, I want good relations with the US, but I can’t let them use us as” tissue paper’.”
