“This is what happens when they don’t have medicine. They switch to traditional medicine,” said Dr Nagi Shafik, who has worked for UNICEF in the villages of North Korea since 2001. When he was last there, in 2019, there was already a shortage of medicines. “There was some, but very, very little,” he says.
