One person died after two explosions in Jerusalem, Israeli police say | CNN

Two explosions shook Jerusalem early Wednesday, killing one person and injuring more than a dozen others in a suspected “combined terror attack,” an Israeli police spokesman said.

The first explosion occurred at 7:06 a.m. at a bus station at the entrance to Jerusalem, injuring at least 11 people, including one person who later died, the spokesman said.

After a second explosion nearly half an hour later at the city’s Ramot interchange, at 7:30 a.m., three people were evacuated with minor injuries, police added.

Initial investigations indicated that explosives had been placed at both blast sites and suspects are being sought, the police spokesperson said.

After the initial blast, two paramedics from Magen David Adom, the Israel Red Cross, said they found two seriously injured people on the ground when they arrived at the scene.

“We were at the MDA station at the entrance to the city when we heard a big explosion,” they said. “We immediately went to the scene in large numbers, including ambulances, MICUs (mobile intensive care units) and medical bicycles.”

“There were two seriously injured people nearby, a 16-year-old in the bus stop and a 45-year-old on the sidewalk.”

This is a breaking news story. More to come…
