PTI Secretary General Asad Umar announced Friday that the PTI will stage a nationwide protest at 5 p.m. today.
The senior party leader said he would also join the protesters in Liberty Chowk, Lahore.
Announced on Twitter, Asad Umar said the PTI would hold protests in all major cities today, a day after PTI chief Imran. Khan came under a gun attack — an attempt on his life, Geo News reported.
Imran Khan believes the bullets were fired at him at the behest of three people, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaulla and top ISI General Maj Gen Faisal.
Imran Khan revealed on Friday that he was already aware of the impending danger when he broke the silence a day after he was shot during an ‘attempted murder’.
Speaking to PTI supporters at Shaukat Khanum Hospital – where he is being treated for his injuries – Khan said: “I had already learned that there was a plan to kill me somewhere between Wazirabad and Gujrat.”
In response to Khan’s allegations, the country’s military dismissed the statement as “baseless,” Geo News reported.
According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the “baseless and irresponsible allegations made by Chairman PTI against the institution and in particular a senior army officer are absolutely unacceptable and unfounded.”
Meanwhile, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said Khan wanted to submit an initial information report (FIR) of his choice regarding the attack on him rather than following the law, Geo News reported.
In a statement, Aurangzeb said police and investigative agencies have been barred from entering Shaukat Khanum hospital.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has taken over the investigation into the attack on PTI chairman Imran Khan.
Security sources said the prime suspect Naveed was taken to the CTD cell in Chung, where he is being questioned by the CTD and other agencies, Geo News reported.
Sources said it has also been decided to conduct a polygraph test on the suspect, while a case against the incident will be registered with the CTD or a local police station.
At least 24 people, including PTI leaders, have been arrested in a case for protesting the assassination attempt on PTI chairman Imran Khan.
According to the police, the nominated protesters resisted the police and damaged government property.
An FIR of the case stated that the protesters attacked the police and FC personnel with sticks and pelted stones, resulting in the injuries of nine FC personnel and five officers, Geo News reported.
PTI leader Shibli Faraz says Imran Khan will be moved to his home within two days.
Faraz said a full investigation into Khan’s assassination attempt should take place as it was not the act of a person, Geo News reported.
“This was not done by just one person, there is a conspiracy behind it,” he added.
