Russia claims it ‘destroyed’ a Ukrainian military factory outside Kiev

Russia launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24 on President Putin’s approval.

Russia’s defense ministry said on Sunday it hit a military factory outside Kiev as Moscow intensifies its attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

“Overnight, high-precision air-launched missiles destroyed a munitions factory near the Brovary settlement, in the Kiev region,” the ministry said in a statement to Telegram.

Brovary mayor Igor Sapozhko said “some infrastructure objects were hit” in the early morning hours.

An AFP journalist in Brovary has seen no signs of destruction, smoke or fire.

Russia has carried out several attacks on military factories in and outside Kiev in recent days.

Last month, Russia said it was withdrawing troops from northern Ukraine — including from across the capital — to focus on gaining control of the eastern Donbas region.
