According to a July 22 report by the World Health Organization, only five deaths had been reported worldwide, all in the African region.
In its latest report, the Spanish Ministry of Health said 4,298 cases had been confirmed in the country. Of the 3,750 patients it had information about, 120 had been hospitalized and one had died, without providing further details.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health declined to provide further details about the deceased person.
