ISTANBUL – The head of Turkey’s Disaster and Disaster Relief Agency has raised the death toll in the country from a magnitude 7.8 earthquake last month to 47,975.

Yunus Sezer said at a press conference on Saturday that the dead included 6,278 foreigners, the largest share being Syrian nationals.
