Three people were killed and five others injured when Russian troops fired mortars that hit an evacuation bus in the south Kherson region, a Ukrainian military spokesman said Tuesday.
The incident took place on August 1, as the bus was en route from the Russian-controlled village of Starosilya to the Ukrainian-occupied city. Kryvyi Riho.
Natalia Humeniuka spokesman for the southern command of the Ukrainian army said the vehicle came under mortar fire near the village of Dovhove.
Russia, which invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24 in what it calls a special military operation, denies deliberately targeting civilians, even though its attacks have devastated Ukrainian cities.
