The rejuvenated forests have changed the lives of the locals here. Floods are less common. Precipitation, once intermittent, is now normal.

“As the forests disappeared, our crops also started drying,” said Manu Gurung, a ranger at Kankali Community Forest. “Now, the trees give us rain.”
